ABSTRACT

The UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN) was created in 2004 aiming to foster parnerships and strategies between cities that promote creativity as a key-agent towards sustainable urban development. These cities are divided in seven groups from different fields: Design, Gastronomy, Music, Literature, Media Arts, Crafts and Folk Art and Film. Within Film, an education strategy for the seventh art is one of the vehicles for sustainable development of the urban contexts addressed by the group. Aligned with projects outside the UCCN that also use Film as an educational fundamental tool, the UNESCO Creative Cities of Film highlight that role and implement, explore and develop it in strategies designed for local and national realities. This way, a panoramic analysis over some of these practices, within UCCN, will contribute to identify updated and global challenges and opportunities within the relation between Film and Education.
